On May 14, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 5300 block of Leeside Street, in unincorporated McHenry for a rescue call. Preliminary information was received that emergency services were called for a stabbing.
Upon arrival, it was determined an adult male had been stabbed. A minor suspect was located and taken into custody shortly after the incident without further complication.
Preliminary investigation revealed the incident was domestic related in nature, and as such, the Sheriff’s Office believes this to be an isolated occurrence and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The suspect involved is a minor, and in accordance with Illinois law and the protection of minor identities, no further identifying information will be released.
The victim was transported to Condell Hospital in Libertyville where he was treated and released.
At this time, the minor was charged with Aggravated Battery with Great Bodily Harm and Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon. Both are Felony charges in Illinois. The minor was detained at the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center.
The charge against the above-mentioned minor are merely allegations. The minor is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
