Three people were injured following a two-vehicle crash in unincorporated Woodstock Monday afternoon.
On August 3, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m. the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Hebron Alden Greenwood Fire Protection District and the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded to a two-vehicle crash involving injuries at the intersection US Route 14 and S Hughes Road. S Hugues Road turns into Hartland Road north of US Route 14.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2023 Freightliner, driven by a 52-year-old Sterling man, was traveling westbound on US Route 14. A 2020 Jeep Wrangler, driven by an 18-year-old Rockford man with a 16-year-old passenger and 21-year-old Texas passenger, was traveling northbound on Hughes Road. For unknown reasons, the driver of the Jeep failed to yield at the stop sign and crashed into the Freightliner. The Jeep then exited the roadway and struck a utility pole.
The 52-year-old male driver of the Freightliner was uninjured. The driver of the Jeep was transported via ambulance to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The 16-year-old Jeep passenger was transported via ambulance to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The 21-year-old male passenger was flown to Mercyhealth Javon Bea Hospital-Riverside in Rockford with life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Major Crash Investigation Unit.
