A 32-year-old Harvard man was pronounced dead, following a single-vehicle crash on US Route 14, south of Dunham Road, in unincorporated Woodstock on Sunday morning.
On October 29, 2023, at 7:35 a.m., members of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Woodstock Fire/Rescue District, Harvard Fire Protection District, REACT and MD 1, responded to a single-vehicle crash.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling northbound on US Route 14. The Chevrolet exited the roadway to the right and overcorrected causing the vehicle to enter the southbound lane of travel. The Chevrolet then exited the roadway to the right hitting the embankment and some small trees. The Chevrolet came to rest on its left side, in the northbound lane of travel.
US Route 14 was closed to traffic for about 4 ½ hours.
The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
