On March 19, 2022 at 3:12 p.m., the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Nunda Rural Fire Department responded to the 2000 block of Rt. 176, west of Bayview Beach Rd., in the Village of Prairie Grove, for a two-vehicle traffic crash.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2002 Toyota Highlander, driven by Tyler King, 27 years of age, of Crystal Lake, was traveling westbound on Rt. 176. A 2001 Ford E350 Cargo truck, driven by Eduardo Lopez-Peredo, of Wauconda was traveling eastbound on Rt. 176. For unknown reasons, the Toyota Highlander crossed the center line, striking the eastbound Ford. The Ford then left the roadway, overturned, and spilled the cargo. Seat belts were used by both drivers. The driver of the Toyota was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Ford was airlifted to Condell Hospital, Libertyville.
The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
