On April 1, 2022, at approximately 8:00 p.m., deputies from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 19900 block of Streit Road in Harvard for a check for well-being.
Upon deputies’ arrival, a male subject exited the residence with a firearm. An armed confrontation occurred between the subject and the deputies. The deputies discharged their firearms, ultimately striking the subject. No deputies were injured during the confrontation.
Lifesaving measures were given to the subject and he was transported by Harvard Fire Protection District to Mercy Harvard Hospital. From Harvard, he was flown to Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford where he remains in critical condition.
McHenry County Major Investigation Assistance Team (MIAT) will be handling the investigation.
