The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that the McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility has earned accreditation through the American Correctional Association (ACA), demonstrating the facility’s compliance with nationally established standards for correctional operations, safety, security and administration.
The accreditation is based on an intensive three-day, on-site audit conducted by a team of three independent auditors. During the audit, the McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility was evaluated against hundreds of standards covering facility operations and the care, custody and safety of inmates and staff.
Accreditation can only be achieved by complying with 100% of the applicable mandatory standards and at least 90% of all applicable non-mandatory standards. ACA accreditation is granted for a three-year period.
The McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility achieved 100% compliance with all 61 mandatory standards and 97.26% compliance with 361 non-mandatory standards. The remaining 2.74% non-mandatory standards received waivers through the ACA due to the physical limitations of the building or minor corrections suggested by the audit team.
