On November 21, 2023, around 6:50 AM, while a corrections officer was conducting routine cell checks, a 51-year-old male inmate was found unresponsive in his single-occupied cell at McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility. Corrections officers and Woodstock Fire/Rescue attempted life-saving measures without success, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
In compliance with Sheriff’s Office protocol and state law, the McHenry County Major Investigation Assistance Team was requested to conduct the investigation. Identification is pending notification of next of kin. Additional information will be provided once available.
