Two hospitalized and one person deceased following a house explosion in unincorporated Wonder Lake.
On May 17, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Wonder Lake Police Department, Wonder Lake Fire Protection District, McHenry Township Fire Protection District, Woodstock Fire/Rescue District, Spring Grove Fire Protection District, Richmond Fire Department, Hebron Alden Greenwood Fire Protection District, Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department, Harvard Fire Protection District, Cary Fire Protection District, Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts, Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District, Nunda Rual Fire Protection District, Huntley Fire Protection District, Fox River Grove Fire Department, and Wauconda Fire District responded to the 7400 block of Birch Drive, in unincorporated Wonder Lake for a house explosion.
As a result of a house explosion, one person died, a 76-year-old male and a 28-year-old male were both transported to Loyola University Medical Center with serious injuries.
The investigation is ongoing by the Wonder Lake Fire Protection District and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
