An unidentified individual is dead after a single-vehicle crash near Woodstock on Monday evening.
On Monday, March 3, 2025, at 4:49 p.m., McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Woodstock Fire & Rescue responded to a single vehicle crash in the 8200 block of Mason Hill Road in unincorporated Woodstock.
First responders arrived to find a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. It was also discovered that a person was still within the vehicle and pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigation indicates a 2019 Chrysler 300 was traveling westbound on Mason Hill Road, to the west of Cherry Valley Road. The vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and exited the roadway to the right, striking a tree and catching fire.
The victim is believed to be a male subject and has not been positively identified. The subject was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Speed is believed to be a factor of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
