In the early morning hours of Monday, August 15, 2022, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a representative of the Northwestern Community Hospital in McHenry regarding a report of potential child abuse involving a 7 year-old victim.
Members with McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded to the hospital and an investigation ensued. As a result of the investigation, as well as consultation with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office, Hal G. Eltherington, Gregory S. Eltherington, and Kristen M. Eltherington were criminally charged and warrants for their arrest were issued.
On October 3, 2022, Hal G. Eltherington, Gregory S. Eltherington, and Kristen M. Eltherington surrendered themselves to the McHenry County Jail.
