By statute, the County Sheriff is required to serve all orders of the Court. The civil process division is responsible for the preparation, processing and service of those orders.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office accepts cash, checks, and major credit/debit cards (service fee applies to card transactions).

The above fee is quoted for one person only. Should there be additional people at the same address regarding the same court case, there is an additional $34 fee per person. Only 1 mileage fee will be charged.
Fees quoted are based on the following:

For proof of service:
Enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Print the court case number on the lower left corner of the envelope.
Service returns will not be mailed without this self-addressed, stamped envelope.
If you prefer proof of service via email, please provide the email address, name, and phone number you’d like information to be sent to.

Half this fee is payable at time papers are placed with Sheriff’s Office. Remainder is due at time of sale.
