This report is designed to display inmates who are current McHenry County inmates and will exclude all federal detainees and anyone who is deemed a “juvenile” by the system. This report will also display inmates who have been released within the last 3 days. Weekenders or those who are temporary out of the facility will not appear, but will reappear once they are back in the facility.

Visitation
All visits are recorded and may be monitored. Attorneys will have to contact the video visitation company to set up their account for privilege visits.
Visiting hours are subject to change and may be cancelled in the event of severe weather or an emergency. There will not be any visits during meal hours and lockdown times including maintenance, facility needs,
disturbances, emergencies, or any other cause that this facility deems necessary to end a
visit(s).
Any disruptive conduct by either party during any type of visit or video messaging will result
in the termination of the visit and may have an adverse effect on future visits.
Video Visit Instructions
- All visits must be pre-scheduled by the visitor.
- Visits are also limited by visitation kiosk availability and the facility’s daily schedules

On-Site and Off-Site Video Visitation
Both on-site and off-site visitation are available on a fee basis. The facility does not issue
refunds for visits. Your visitor will need to contact the video visitation company if they need to obtain a refund for any reason. On-Site Video Visitation is restricted to 2 visitors per visit. On-Site visitors must be 17 years of age or accompanied by an adult with a valid picture I.D. Proof of age may be required if there are questions regarding appropriate age. If your visitor(s) bring children (16 years of age or under), they are expected to remain under the direct supervision of the adult visitor(s) so they will not disturb others who are visiting. Visitors must be in appropriate and socially accepted attire.

VINE: Victim Information & Notification Everyday
Crime victims and other concerned citizens can use the Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE) service for access to timely and reliable information about criminal cases and the custody status of offenders 24 hours a day. Victims can inquire about the current status of an offender and register for notifications via text, email, or telephone in the event of an offender’s release, escape, transfer, or court appearance.

How VINE Works
- VINE communicates with jail and prison booking systems in near real-time, transmitting updated information to the Appriss Data Network™.
- Crime victims and the general public can access the information by calling a local toll-free number or visiting www.vinelink.com any time of the day or night.
- Victims can inquire whether an offender is held in jail, as well as the facility’s location.
- Users can register to be notified immediately of a change in the offender’s status, such as release, transfer or escape.
- When a notification is triggered, VINE automatically calls the number or numbers the victim has provided.
- Calls continue for a designated period of time or until the victim enters a four-digit PIN.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement
- U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), is committed to protecting the public and ensuring that the rights of victims are carefully observed.
- HSI administers the ICE – Victim Notification Program which allows eligible victims and witnesses to obtain reliable and timely information regarding a criminal alien’s release from custody. However, victims and witnesses are required to register with HSI in order to receive notification of a criminal alien’s release at the following address: www.ice.gov/victim-notification

All mail must be sent to the facility through the U.S. Postal Service and cannot be dropped off for detainees/inmates. Excluding weekends, holidays and pressing circumstances, incoming mail will be delivered to detainees/inmates no later than 24 hours after it is received from the Post Office. Excluding weekends, holidays and exigent circumstances, outgoing mail will be forwarded to the Post Office no later than 24 hours after it is received from the detainee/inmate.
There will be no incoming or outgoing mail on the weekends or holidays.
All incoming mail must be clearly addressed to include the inmate’s full name, ID number, sender name and return address. Mail received without the sender’s name and return address will be considered unauthorized and will be placed in the inmate’s property and not returned to them until their release.
Correspondence from other inmates is prohibited. This includes using a third-party outside the facility to circulate mail back to the facility.
Letters and Cards
- No ornamentation such as musical, plastics, wood, metals, cloth, ribbon, cord, etc.
- No adhesives, paints, colored pencils, crayons, or any foreign substance.
- No altered paper, discolored paper, or runny ink.
- No glitter, perfume, or lipstick.
- No blank paper, stamps, or envelopes.
Pictures
- No more than 10 photos (printed on photo paper) per envelope.
- No photos larger than 4″x6″ unless printed on a standard sheet of paper.
- No Polaroid photos.
- No photos depicting alcohol, drugs, gang affiliation, or weapons (real or fake).
- No nudity or sexual content.
If unauthorized items are received in the mail, the entire letter and contents will be returned to sender.
- Must come directly from the publisher.
- No hardcovers.
- No staples, or fasteners.

Books will be stamped McHenry County Jail upon being received as they are considered a donation. Once the inmate has had an opportunity to read the item, it will be donated to the Corrections Library. No books will be placed in an inmate’s property at any time for any reason.
Commissary Funds
Funds for commissary can be received in three ways:
- Recommended: Go online to Access Corrections (accesscorrections.com) or call 866-345-1884. Enter in the recipient’s information and follow the prompts to send funds.
- Option 2: Use the kiosk machine that is located in the front lobby of the jail. Cash or credit card accepted.
- Option 3: Send a money order made payable to the McHenry County Jail. The inmate’s name and commissary account number must be entered in the memo field. This process can take up to one week.
