A 28-year-old male pedestrian was pronounced dead after being struck by a pickup truck in unincorporated Woodstock.

A preliminary investigation indicated that on November 19, at 11:10 p.m. a 2011 Ford F150 was headed northbound on Illinois Route 47, within the 1800 block, when it struck a pedestrian who had been crossing the roadway at the time. The roadway is unlit and there is no crosswalk on Route 47.

The pedestrian was treated at the scene by Sheriff's personnel and the Woodstock Fire Protection District, but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Toxicology is pending on the pedestrian through the Coroner's office.

The driver of the 2011 Ford, a 56-year-old male, sustained no injuries in the crash.  The driver had been wearing his safety belt and airbags did not deploy. The driver is not suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The investigation is continuing by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office Major Crash Investigations Unit and the McHenry County Coroner's Office.
