A 30-year-old Harvard man is in critical condition and a 26-year-old Wonder Lake man sustained serious injuries after a one-vehicle motorcycle crash occurred in unincorporated Harvard Sunday evening.

At 8:45 p.m., on September 1st, 2019, Sheriff's Office Deputies, MD-1, React, Flight for Life, and Harvard Township Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the scene of a one-vehicle motorcycle crash at the intersection of Lawrence Road and Ramer Road in unincorporated Chemung Township.

Preliminary investigation indicated that a 2014 Yamaha FZ-09 was traveling southbound on Lawrence Road approaching Ramer Road.  For unknown reasons the motorcycle failed to navigate a curve in the roadway and instead struck a guardrail.

The riders were both flown by helicopter to Javon Bea Hospital on Riverside Road in Rockford where they remain in critical and serious condition.

Neither rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.  Alcohol is considered a factor in the crash.  The driver of the motorcycle is still under investigation which is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office Major Crash Investigation Unit.  Anyone with information please contact the Major Crash Investigation Unit at 815-338-2144.
