Press Release- Death Investigation In Unincorporated McHenry

The McHenry County Sheriff's Office on November 6, 2013 at 2:18 P.M. responded to 518 North Country Club Road, unincorporated McHenry, Illinois in reference to a death investigation.

Deputies arrived on scene and discovered a body that appeared to have been deceased for some time.  Investigators learned that the residence had not been lived in for over 18 months.  The exterior of the residence had been cared for by a caretaker.  The caretaker of the property called after discovering skeletal remains inside the residence.

On November 7, 2013 at approximately 12:30 P.M. with the assistance of the United States Marshal Service, William J. Ross was taken into custody in Las Vegas, Nevada, for Concealment of a Homicidal Death.  Ross is the homeowner of the residence where the deceased body was found. 

Sheriff's Office Investigator's and the McHenry County Coroner's Office are currently working together on this joint investigation.  An autopsy has been performed and no definitive cause of death has been determined at the time of this release.  The victim is an adult female; Identification is pending. 

Due to the nature of this investigation, we anticipate it will take time for further information to be released. Once the identity of the victim is confirmed, next of kin will be notified.  The identity of the victim will then be released.

Currently Ross is being held at Clark County Correctional Facility, Las Vegas, Nevada pending extradition.  This investigation is ongoing, additional charges may be forthcoming.

The charges against the above named defendant are merely allegations against him.  The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
